One of the most recognisable motifs in the world of watches and jewellery, the Serpenti has become synonymous with some of history’s most iconic women. Actor Elizabeth Taylor and fashion icon Diana Vreeland were known to favour this sinuous emblem of Bvlgari.
It’s been 75 years since the Serpenti was launched, and the emblematic symbol’s enduring appeal among the world’s female luminaries is unparalleled. CEO of the Bvlgari group Jean-Christophe Babin shares that the brand’s Serpenti creations were inspired by the jewels of Egyptian queen Cleopatra, who was said to have displayed a fondness for jewellery with snake motifs.
“[Bvlgari’s Serpenti creations] convey endless tales, artistry and empowerment. It expands the boundaries of jewellery, reflecting the spirit of confident women and entering the world of art through exciting creative collaborations. It was and is the ultimate Bvlgari icon of endless metamorphosis,” he says.
From the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, who also famously played the titular role in Cleopatra in 1963, to current Hollywood A-listers like Charlize Theron and Zendaya, the Serpenti women are strong, independent and talented individuals who pursue their dreams fearlessly.
