As you might expect, DALI didn’t decide to wing it in one of the toughest market sectors of all. In fact, the Danish company has used cues from its speaker designing past rather than taking its lead from masters of the headphone art. As such, its oversized 50mm drivers are custom made and use paper/fibre cones. And, just like its speaker enclosures, the IO-6’s earcups are braced and damped to cut down resonance. The compromises inherent with Bluetooth are a given, but DALI’s focus on sound quality is as sharp as ever. No surprise, then that aptX HD Bluetooth is supported and, as with all the contenders, the effect of the active noise cancellation is boosted by an impressive degree of passive isolation.
