The annual Goodwood Festival of Speed is often used by vehicle manufacturers to showcase the latest and greatest in automotive technology, and this year the 20 year old Goodwood Hill Climb record (set by a McLaren MP4/13 F1 car in 1999) was finally beaten by the all conquering The Volkswagen I.D. R electric race car, a prototype specifically made to smash records.
