“Bear with me, I’ve got a lot to say” – that’s how embattled singer Britney Spears began her anticipated court appearance last week.

The singer, 39, claimed she is being abused and exploited by her family in a conservatorship that has been in place for more than a decade.

A fed-up Britney did not hold back when she told the court her father, Jamie Spears, the co-conservator of her estate, “should be in jail”.

Speaking via a phone link, Britney described a life where she was not in control of her finances or care plan, saying: “I just want my life back.”
