As bushfires erupted across the country, Roz Holmes, 56, had one thing on her mind – protecting wildlife.
With her husband Kevin, the couple fought to contain the inferno near their property in Cessnock, NSW.
They spent three sleepless weeks leaving out food and water for wildlife and tending to the wounds of burnt animals in their animal hospital, Cedar Creek Wombat Rescue.
A year on, their hard work has paid off and they received enough in donations to expand their animal hospital.
