THE TODAY CO-HOST IS FORCED TO MAKE BIG CHANGES

With his lucrative multimilliondollar contract ending this year, Today co-host Karl Stefanovic has been left with no choice but to consider a ‘back-up plan’ should Nine Network show him the door.

According to our well-placed insider, negotiations are already underway for his three-year, $2 million-a-year deal that’s due for renewal at the end of this year, but so far no agreement has been finalised for the embattled presenter’s future. And sources say the host could be dumped from the network for good.

It’s left Karl mulling over a possible career change should negotiations turn sour. And it all comes as Karl and pregnant wife Jasmine look for new digs after leaving their fancy rental home on Sydney’s affluent north shore.

“It’s a tough time for his agent, that’s for sure,” says the insider of Karl’s contract negotiations. “It took three months to get the offer they wanted last time around, but that’s all changed now. They are heading into this on the back foot.”
