Trending: Love, Lust & The Older Woman

In the Bollywood flick ‘Wake Up Sid’, Ranbir Kapoor’s character falls in love with a much older Konkona Sen, breaking all conventional diktats of fi lmi romance. If we are talking Bollywood, the chirpy Preity Zinta is dating the very dashing Gene Good enough who is 10 years her junior. As for regular people, did you know that almost one-third of women between ages 35 and 69 globally are dating younger men (defined as 10 or more years younger)? In India too, despite old fangled social constraints, the trend of younger men dating older women is actually catching on in a big way.

According to a recent AARP poll done in the USA, one-sixth of men in their 20s actually prefer women in their 40s or 50s. Furthermore, scientific research enumerates that the perfect mate for a woman in her 40s is a man between the ages of 22-25. And that’s just not only because of the ‘sex’ or the stamina of the younger male in bed. Women like the flexibility and sense of adventure of their more spontaneous, younger companions; while the younger men like the maturity and experience of the women.

Archana Puran Singh, actress: “I think an older woman is confident, sure about herself and is financially secure. She is rarely dependant on anybody. And everybody loves a confident woman. No wonder young men are falling in love with such women!”
