Twirling in front of the mirror, I admired the ivory, satin dress. ‘I love it!’ I gus hed. It was only the third wedding dress I’d tried, but I knew it was The One.
‘It’s beautiful,’ my mum Yvonne, 64, beamed.
It was May 2016, and I was due to marry Michael, 45, in a year’s time.
We’d started planning as soon as he’d popped the question and had found a venue with a gorgeous barn.
When the day arrived, my dad Phil, 63, was going to walk me down the aisle with my son Mason, five, who has Down syndrome.
Mason didn’t really understand what it was all about, but was enjoying being with family, playing outside. As we waited to enter the barn, he stood between me and Dad, holding our hands.
This was it!
The groomsmen and the bridesmaids went in first, then it was my turn.
