The 2016 Federation show was approached with some trepidation after hearing the news that there had been an outbreak of Avian Influenza in Lincolnshire on the afternoon of the day before the show. This caused a social media frenzy with very mixed opinions and a percentage of people opting not to show.
And it isn’t good for business when you realise that such news could affect sales for the coming weekend. How many subs would we have taken otherwise? Fortunately, we still did rather well and more importantly, the show went ahead, and in the main without issue.
Prolific and well-known winner Richard Bett did rather well out of the show, despite having to withdraw his sale birds as a precautionary measure. Richard managed to secure Reserve champion and Best large trio among other awards, but it was that man Rob Walker who took the overall plaudits for supreme show champion ‘Lord Duke,’ which was a fit and thriving Black Minorca bantam male.
