The LPCG moved last year to The Rutland County Show after its previous location and funding was lost.
Luckily The Rutland Show was willing to fund and keep the show running. Then with the issues in our hobby over the current flu concerns we thought in its second year it may have to be cancelled, but we kept positive by saying we are hoping to run and will issue refunds if not. I think many thought I was mad.
Luckily the England-wide ban was removed 19 days before the show and our request to review our license was responded to extremely quickly and we had the go ahead. We decided [for ease of our exhibitors] to extend the closing date by 5 days, as it was due to close 4 days after DEFRA lifted the ban.
We had 207 entries and our largest ever large fowl entry, which going forth means we will request a larger marquee for next year. The public have left fantastic reviews over the birds exhibited. We held a RPS Rare Poultry Society) area show so had an extremely interesting mix of birds for them to observe, which they clearly enjoyed and we had 4 new juveniles entering too. I am sure you can see from Rupert and Blanche’s fabulous photos why the public gave high reviews.
