Online trolls left politician afraid of leaving home
SWING-GATE TD Maria Bailey said her family was “afraid to leave her alone” after the “horrendous” abuse she received.
The former Fine Gael deputy for Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin, said she endured a steady stream of “vile” and “toxic” messages online at a time when her father was seriously ill.
Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown Cllr John Bailey died in July 2019 just two months after being elected during the May local elections.
