Thunderstorm Activity Likely Till September 20

Sudden dip in day temperature in Cuddalore, Tiruttani and Vellore

With the State set to receive moderate rain for three more days, residents can look forward to more pleasant days. An upper air cyclonic circulation is expected to trigger thunderstorm activity till September 20, according to meteorologists.

Rainfall on Sunday provided a break from sultry weather in many places. Thanjavur recorded the highest volume of rainfall — 11 cm — during the 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. on Monday followed by Poonamallee with 7 cm.

Several places such as Chennai, Cuddalore, Tiruttani and Vellore saw a sudden dip in the day temperature due to overnight showers.
