Two Women Molested On The Marina, Three Nabbed

Visitors claim beach unsafe after dark; want better lighting

Two women who went for a walk on the beach opposite PWD headquarters were sexually assaulted by three men on Tuesday night.

Beach-goers claim that there is an urgent need to improve lighting on the Marina, especially beyond the Chennai Corporation swimming pool.

On Tuesday night, a 24year-old woman, an employee of a private firm, and her 20-year-old friend, a college student, had gone to the beach. They took a walk on the sand and were sitting when three men approached them and asked if they knew Hindi.

When they replied in the affirmative, the youngsters walked away. Within a few minutes, they returned and molested the two women who cried out for help.
