Why Should You Consider Collecting Your Baby’s Stem Cells?
As a parent, you want to keep your baby wrapped up in cotton wool. Should the worst happen and they develop a health condition, there is something you can do to protect your child’s future health - cord blood stem cell storage.
WHAT ARE STEM CELLS?
Cord blood stem cells are found in the blood inside the umbilical cord – they have come from the placenta and are the most useable source of stem cells that your baby will ever have. They have the ability to turn into any kind of cell such as muscle or brain cells and can become any cell in the blood (red cells, white cells or platelets). They have been used for many years in bone marrow transplants to treat blood diseases.
STEM CELLS SUCCESS
Stem cell research has grown rapidly since it began 30 years ago and the cells can now be used to treat over 85 conditions. The first cord blood transplant happened in 1988 and over four million families have banked their babies’ cord blood privately.
