EOS cameras can all be remotely controlled from a computer, and automatically transfer images to the computer as you take them. Tethered shooting is part of the working practice for many studio and product pros who need to see images large, or shared with a team, as the shoot progresses. Your EOS can do it with the free Canon software provided. Download and install EOS Utility on your computer and it’s as simple as connecting the USB cable to your camera and computer, then turning the camera on. Other software, such as Lightroom and Capture One, also provide tethered shooting, but cost extra and don’t have different options for camera remote control than EOS Utility. For most cameras with Wi-Fi you can eliminate the cable and avoid the trip hazard, but work the same with EOS Utility. Remember that images will transfer more slowly over a Wi-Fi connection than a USB cable. It can be beneficial to shoot Raw + JPEG, but only auto transfer the JPEGs when using Wi-Fi.
