Beech tree in Everlanes Wood, near Milborne Port, Somerset, UK. November 2017
Hundreds of years of tree growth, 22 years of discovering the area, and three hours of walking though the woods; David Noton knows that getting the perfect shot takes time
06:00 I awake before the alarm goes off as usual, thinking through what I need to get done today. Having mostly been out of the office over the last couple of months, there are lots of things awaiting my attention: emails, editing, writing, preparation for events, the usual stuff. I lurch out of bed, steeled to just get on with it. Then I open the curtains.
Mist. Thick. The kind that will probably last all morning. Forget the red flags in the inbox, forget breakfast; I’m heading for the woods.
