The new generation of gaming is already here, but while PS5 has been impressing us for over a year now PSVR2 is still just over the horizon. We know the new virtual reality hardware will be swoopy and white like the base console, but its looks are just one of many reasons why the next generation of VR will be a head-turner. Stick with us as we dig into why you should be excited for PSVR2.
THE HEADSET
Go on, strap a screen to your face
VENT In a bid to improve airflow, PSVR2's designers are taking cues from PlayStation 5. The headset now sports a vent within the scope, which means there's less of a chance that the lenses will fog up during your next VR adventure.
INSIDE-OUT TRACKING PSVR2 is ditching its predecessor's single external camera setup. The four cameras embedded in the outside of the headset keep track of you and your controllers instead.
LENS ADJUSTMENT DIAL This is just one of many quality-of-life improvements introduced with the headset. With just a tweak of this dial, you can adjust the distance between the headset's lenses to match the space between your eyes.
TEMPEST 3D AUDIOTECH We've already experienced this impressive sound technology on PS5, but PSVR2 is set to take it one step further. While wearing the headset, the soundscape shifts realistically as you move your head.
SINGLE-CABLE CONNECTION Now, here's the real headline act. Joking aside, the days of multiple tangled wires are behind us, although PSVR2 hasn't completely ditched the tether. A wired connection makes for consistent performance while also keeping VR heads from roving too far out of bounds.
