Lopez and Japan’s Nasa Hataoka had swapped five pars at the par-3 18th hole on Sunday night before play was suspended due to darkness. Play resumed Monday at 8 a.m. in 45-degree, windy conditions and both players again parred the hole before Lopez finally captured the win on the seventh attempt.
“I proved to myself that I can win in any situation. My first win was in the lead, and now my second win was coming from behind,” said Lopez, who earned her second career victory, joining the 2018 Blue Bay LPGA. “Being able to put all those moments together and recall them while I’m walking on the fairway here and try to stay patient. I think that’s what I proved to myself the most. It was my ability to stay in the moment.”
