At the moment, if you look at the competition, Federer will face an uphill task. Still, if anyone can win the Wimbledon even after the age of 35, it is going to be Federer...
“I’ll miss playing this fall but will be back to Switzerland with Match for Africa 3 on Apr 10, 2017, playing 2x Olympic champion @ andy_murray”
This is what Roger Federer wrote on his Twitter handle on October 12. He has not been playing since his injury-forced withdrawal from Wimbledon earlier this year. He is believed to have given himself time to recover from the injury so that he can prolong his career farther. If his Twitter posting is any indication, he has been enjoying life during this hibernation period away from tennis: trekking on the Swiss mountains, taking selfies in the wild and generally enjoying life in beautiful locations. What about his tennis future, then?
HISTORY IS AGAINST HIS FUTURE
What looks interesting is the date he set for his return. By April 10, the Australia Open will have been over. The French Open will be 50 days away. And the Wimbledon will follow in a month. But what is more significant is Federer’s own age. He will be just two months short of his 36th birthday on April 10, 2017.
