MICHAEL CARBERRY will have a lot to think about over the course of the season, but he has found a great method of relaxation – as a budding artist.
Cricketers and art have mixed before, with former England wicket keeper Jack Russell becoming a successful painter since his retirement from the game.
But it’s in pencil sketching where new Leicester shire captain Carberry has found his forte after the opening batsman picked up the hobby, which he previously enjoyed as a teenager, two years ago.
He has been steadily building up his portfolio since and often shares his work on social media – his Instagram page (@carbs646) is full of his work.
The most impressive aspect of the sketches, which are of high quality, is that Carberry is self-taught, showing he is as naturally adept with a pencil in his hand as he is with the bat.
He said: “It was just a spur of the moment thing to get back into it.
