Getting hitched without a hitch is the goal for every bride and groom. But what if something does go wrong? It needn’t spell disaster – as long as you’ve insured your day.
The hot topic that’s grabbed our attention. This issue, we’re covering our backs with wedding insurance
DAMAGE CONTROL
News just in: wedding business goes bust!
Now, we at TTKS HQ would never encourage anyone to let loose their inner bridezilla, but if ever there was a headline to warrant just the briefest flash of fire-breathing stroppiness, this surely would be it.
You may have noticed there has been a fair bit of bleak news surrounding the industry lately. We’ve seen couples crushed by co-ordinators doing a runner, venues folding without warning, and dry-cleaners abandoning precious heirloom gowns in a crumpled heap. All we can say is that planning a wedding is a bit like driving a car that’s prone to breakdowns. If you find yourself with a burst tyre or smoke pouring from the bonnet, wouldn’t it be good to know the AA was on its way? Best get on board with insurance.
WHY OH WHY
It doesn’t fit into the cake-tasting, happy-tear-inducing, ring-selfie-filled, floating-on-a-cloud fantasy you’ve been led to believe is wedding planning, so why should the dull, dry search for insurance be a priority? Do you really need it?
“This celebration is a huge financial investment, so it’s imperative that you protect it,” stresses Andy Newman, head of personal finance at Debenhams. “And it’s not just the financial elements to consider: tying the knot takes careful organisation – you don’t want to remember it for all the wrong reasons. If you cancel or postpone due to unforeseen circumstances, you’ll have the comfort of knowing that we could help with irrecoverable costs.”
