Watching the evening news with my partner Kieran, 33, we turned to each other in worry.

It was March this year, and the coronavirus lockdown in the UK was looming.

‘How will we cope?’ I stressed to Kieran.

Whilst most people were panicking over loo rolls, sanitiser and hand wash, my first concern was McDonald’s.

Our two boys Luke, five, and Jake, four, have autism and part of that means they have no awareness of days of the week.

But that doesn’t stop them keeping track of their Monday night McDonald’s!

It’s the highlight of their week. ‘Their routines will be completely disrupted,’ I said.

Over the following few days, my worst fear came true.

‘McDonald’s is closing!’ I told Kieran. ‘What am I going to do?’
