Back in the early days of joining the Royal Family, it was no secret that the Duchess of Sussex looked up to the late Princess Diana.
Royal experts claimed Meghan, 39, had been a huge fan of the People’s Princess way before meeting Harry, and saw Diana as a ‘role model’.
‘According to family friends, she was intrigued by Diana for her independent humanitarian mission, seeing her as a role model,’ wrote royal biographer Andrew Morton.
Now royal commentator Lady Colin Campbell has revealed she believes Meghan was keen to ‘outshine’ her idol.
While Diana left the Royal Family under a cloud of controversy following Prince Charles’ affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, Meghan and Harry’s shock exit has some parallels.
But if Meghan thinks she’ll reach the same heady height of fame as Diana did after becoming arguably the ‘most famous woman in the world’ following her royal exit, Lady C thinks she’ll be gravely disappointed…
A SIMILAR FATE?
What appeared to start as a healthy respect for her late mother-in-law– with Meghan hoping to emulate Princess Diana with her own charity work – has since turned into something more complex, according to Lady C.
