Low-calorie foods THAT FILL YOU UP
Have you set yourself a weight-loss goal for the new year? You might be asking yourself how you can achieve this without feeling hungry. Diets don’t have to mean feeling unsatisfied or experiencing that horrible irritability that comes with an empty stomach. In fact, if you’re eating nutritious, low-calorie, high-fibre foods, you can have a full plate and a full stomach without any of the guilt or worry about too many calories. Our expert, nutritional adviser Kim Plaza at Bio-Kult, explains what you should be including in your daily diet to ensure you’re dropping pounds, while enjoying satisfying, delicious food.

WATER-RICH FOODS

As water contains zero calories, it makes sense to include water-rich foods in your weight-loss plan. Cucumber is one such example – in fact, it’s made up of 95% water. It’s also a source of magnesium, potassium and vitamin K, and at just eight calories for 52g (with peel), you can eat it guilt free. Other water-rich foods include tomatoes (95%) and bell peppers (94%). If you’re after a water-rich meal, opt for broth-based soups, and load up on vegetables such as mushrooms, broccoli and carrots to increase the nutritional value and make it more filling.
