Escapist perfume
Scent has a powerful ability to transport us and certain ingredients are guaranteed to get you in the holiday headspace (even if you’re going no further than the back garden) ‘Traditionally, we think of the fresh fragrance family for warmer weather,’ says The Perfume Society’s Suzy Nightingale.
‘Citruses, colognes, green notes, and lighter florals. Search for scents made in that country and they often evoke the landscape or climate, using ingredients grown there.’ For a luxe treat that brings the Med to you, try Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Azur, £44, with Sicilian lemon and bergamot. Hotel Chocolat is a surprisingly good source for escapist fragrance, with notes inspired by the brand’s Caribbean estate. We love their Rabot 1745 Koray Eau de Parfum, £28, with jasmine and cacao, or the lighter St Lucia Body Mist, £10.
