'Time for a CHANGE'

As Piers-mania grips the nation, could the most divisive man on television have his sights set on something bigger than Good Morning Britain?
'Time for a CHANGE'

PM?’ screamed the front page of a national newspaper – sparking a surprising campaign to replace PrimeMinister Boris Johnson with none other than Piers Morgan.

Though clearly tongue in cheek, Piers brought it up approximately every 30 seconds on that day’s Good Morning Britain and the paper itself later wondered whether or not they’d ‘created a monster’.

But, even if the possibility of Piers, 55, running the country seems unlikely – for now, at least – there’s no denying he is a man who gets everyone talking. His fiery interviews with high-profile politicians during the COVID-19 pandemic have won over an army of new fans, and now it seems he could be considering a future away from ITV.

VOICE OF A NATION?

While many have been questioning the actions of those in charge as the pandemic rumbles on, Piers has been taking his job of holding key figures accountable seriously – and asking the questions we all want answers to.

And he’s clearly doing something right, as viewing figures for GMB were up 47% in 2020. Like him or loathe him, Piers is suddenly a man nobody can get away from. But could his rise in popularity see him walk away from his seat next to Susanna Reid?

A well-placed source tells Woman’s Own, ‘Piers is very aware he’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but that’s his appeal: he doesn’t care what anyone thinks of him, which allows him to say things that other people perhaps wouldn’t.
