It’s a movie match-up the studios have been keen on for the past two decades – and it seems Demi Moore and Russell Crowe might finally agree to team up in a major blockbuster!

According to Hollywood insiders, there’s a “hot new spy thriller” on the desks of major production company bosses, “which is tailor-made for Russell and Demi as onscreen lovers – think Mr & Mrs Smith but with an older couple”.

Both Russell, 57, and Demi, 59, have had a quiet few years at the box office, with sources saying their respective agents are “pushing hard for them both to sign on the dotted line for this movie”.

“A hot co-headliner with a major co-star is just what Demi and Russell need to give their respective careers a bit more dazzle,” explains a showbiz insider. “Having them together on a spectacular thriller that appeals to older audiences could revive them, along with the movie industry itself, which is saturated with superhero movies targeted at a younger demographic.”

This comes after years of the pair keeping their distance from each other on set, with insiders saying Demi always turned down scripts involving Russell “out of loyalty to Bruce [Willis]”.
