Cambodia is a country which follows the rule of visa on arrival. Hence, this is a very ideal country to visit in the last minute without extensive planning. This sovereign state is located in the southern portion of the Indochina peninsula in Southeast Asia. It is 181,035 square kilometres (69,898 square miles) in area, bordered by Thailand to the northwest, Laos to the northeast, Vietnam to the east, and the Gulf of Thailand to the southwest. There are many territories that make interesting visiting places in Cambodia. Foremost is Siem Reap.

Our trip to Siem Reap was mainly to see Angkor Wat. As we landed, we forgot our photographs to be pasted on the passport. All that we needed to do was pay $1 dollar each for getting the photo taken. We were shocked when the immigration officer asked us "Can you give me some tip?" We didn't have much change and so ended up giving him $2 and he was immensely pleased.

This portrays the poverty and the hunger this country is facing. Tourism is the biggest source of revenue.

Siem Reap, a resort town in north- western Cambodia, is the gateway to the ruins of Angkor, the seat of the Khmer kingdom from the 9th to 15th centuries. Angkor’s vast complex of intricate stone buildings includes preserved Angkor Wat, the main temple. Giant, mysterious faces are carved into the Bayon Temple at Angkor Thom.
