Care And Cure Of Human Bites

According to a news-item published in a newspaper dated 8 April 2018, Chandkheda police arrested a local corporator of Ahmedabad for biting the first finger of a woman police sub-inspector’s right hand.

As the human mouth is heavily laden with germs and bacteria that are carried into the wound during biting infection can occur easily.

A study reveals that bites can transmit the Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV) as well as the hepatitis B virus and other diseases. Thus, someone who has a human bite wound should get prompt first aid and see a doctor as soon as possible after the injury, especially if the skin is broken. Any bite that breaks the skin is at risk for infection and diseases transmission. Hence, tetanus prevention is necessary.
