“Interior design is more than just creating aesthetically pleasing spaces,” says Mariko Konno, Co-Founder and Director of Nanas Design. “It’s about crafting environments that enhance people’s lives. Through our work, we hope to inspire and uplift people’s everyday experiences, making a meaningful impact on how they live, work, and interact within their spaces.”
Whether it’s a home, a workspace or a public venue, Nanas Design commits to establishing harmony between form and function, ensuring that the spaces do not only look good but also serve a purpose.
The pursuit of perfection – kodawari – informs Nanas’ process. “How you do anything is how you do everything,” Saki Funayama, the other half of the design duo, says. “We get on our knees, sweaty and dusty, until everything is done to our absolute satisfaction.” They will not let go of this laborious aspect of their work which makes their processes inimitable. Through kodawari, they seamlessly integrate design, construction and its execution, and styling to deliver a great project.
