Monaco is next port of call for Formula E rivals

Street circuit tests efficiency, Wehrlein in lead of title race

THIS weekend sees Formula E reach its most glamorous destination of the year, as the all-electric circus moves to Monte Carlo for the Monaco E-Prix. The Formula E cars run on a near-identical layout to that of the famous Formula 1 race; the only exception on the 2.047-mile layout is a slightly revised arrangement for the Nouvelle Chicane, which comes quickly after the exit of the iconic tunnel. The track is a real test of efficiency; the power-sapping steep run up the hill from St. Devote towards Casino Square is followed by a downhill run back towards Portier. On that stretch the best cars will be able to recover up to 600kW in brake regeneration part of the reason why the cars are able to recoup more than 40 per cent of the energy they use in the race.
