Tata Motors is single-handedly responsible for bringing EVs into mainstream consideration of car buyers in India. While the rest of the mass market manufacturers are playing catch up, Tata already has four EVs in its lineup and is ready to roll out four more over the next couple of years. Not just new models, the company has also taken massive steps in terms of EV platform and technology, and has even opened up showrooms dedicated to selling its electric vehicles. Ahead of the launch of its latest electric offering, Punch.ev, Tata’s electric vehicle sub-division unveiled the new Acti.ev platform. Billed as a dedicated electric vehicle architecture, this modular platform can support multiple body styles and motor configurations including single-motor FWD, single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD formats.
With the Punch.ev already on sale, next in line is the electric version of the Curvv. Stylised as Curvv. ev, probably, the vehicle has already made a couple of appearances in concept form. It will sit above the Nexon.ev and sport an SUV coupe profile. Both electric and ICE variants of the Curvv are being readied, but it’s the EV that will arrive first. At around 4.3m long, it will finally give Tata a presence in the segment currently dominated by the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara,
