We got a chance to properly exploit the potential of the Harley Davidson X440. After a first ride experience on the track in Jaipur, we went on to test the motorcycle to see how it fares as a bike for the daily grind

- Azaman Chothia

Torquey Cruise

THE X440 IS THE FIRST PRODUCT TO COME out of the Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson collaboration and has clearly been inspired by the XR models, which is evident from the styling of the front end of the motorcycle. It gets a 13.5-litre fuel tank and sports a round LED multi-projector headlight at the front with the daytime running lights (DRL) running through the middle. The bike comes with a really comfortable single-piece seat that tapers upwards towards the rear and flattens out for the pillion. This is a handsome roadster from some angles, although we would have liked to see a better-looking rear end.

Three variants of the X440 are on offer, the main distinguishing factors being the use of spoked wheels on the entry-level Denim model, alloy wheels on the mid-tier Vivid model, and diamond-cut alloy wheels on the highest S variant. The top-spec variant also gets a 3D-embossed Harley-Davidson logo on the tank, bronze highlights on the engine, and connectivity features as well. What we have here for this review is the Vivid variant in the Metallic Dark Silver colour scheme. In terms of features, the bike makes use of a 3.5-inch TFT screen which is easy to read and displays ample information. All the variants also get a USB charging port near the dash. Only the top-spec S variant gets Bluetooth connectivity, though.

Indomitable Racing Spirit

Inclement weather may have wreaked havoc at thé Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (IoMTT) this year, with several races being shortened and the Senior TT being cancelled altogether, it certainly did not dampen the spirits of Michael Dunlop, who extended his all-time win record to 34 and broke the all-time podium record with 51. He also handed Ducati their first TT win since 1995

Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450

WHEN THE SHERPA 450 ENGINE WAS launched in the Himalayan 450, its character led us to believe that it would do well in a roadster, too, and when the Guerrilla arrived later, it became clear that was Royal Enfield's plan all along.
