In all, six live swans were rescued from Little Wall Lake in Hamilton County Iowa. Sadly, we could not save them all, 24 swans had already died.
Art Nelson, a volunteer, drove his airboat from more than an hour away to help rescue five very weak and sick swans from Little Wall Lake. He navigated the airboat, while volunteer Adam Gebauer with Iowa Bird Rehabilitation hung out the window to net the birds, and IBR Director Jenni sat in the back to hold each swan as we caught them.
“My sister told me somebody needed some assistance getting some swans from a semi-frozen lake. We ended up rescuing five swans. It was a very interesting experience and I learned some things I did not know about swans. The IBR people were very nice and I would definitely volunteer again if they need me.” stated Nelson.

Nothing Beats a Good Challenge
Each year I lead guided trips in some of the most pressured gator waters in southern Georgia and use only archery equipment and my airboat to accomplish it. I love all things archery and a good challenge. I have owned airboats all my adult life and travel across the U.S. competing in bowfishing tournaments.
