PRAISING HER CHILDREN'S IMAGINATIONS, 'NEW GIRL' STAR ZOOEY DESCHANEL ON KEEPING MOVIE-MAKING IN THE FAMILY

With both her parents and her sister working in the film industry, it's little wonder that Zooey Deschanel has established a career in Hollywood, too.

"My sister and my mom are also actors, and my dad is a cinematographer and a director, so yeah, there are a lot of us," says Zooey, whose mother Mary Jo was in the cast of 1990s TV hit Twin Peaks.

Her sister Emily appeared in crime series Bones and her father Caleb has been nominated for six Academy Awards for his work behind the scenes.

"Whenever we get together, there are a lot of shared experiences. I have the best older sister in the world. She has always been supportive and has always been there to give me advice.

"It's great to have such a special relationship," says Zooey, 44.

It seems that the star's children with her former husband, film producer Jacob Pechenik, are following in the family's footsteps, with Elsie Otter, nine, and seven-year-old Charlie Wolf already showing creative flair.

NEXT GENERATION

"My son will make up a whole movie," Zooey says. "He works out the story and characters; he will sing the score and even make up the streaming service the movie will play on.
