A native of Aurora, IL, Evans developed her interest in performing at a young age, participating in beauty pageants and appearing in regional theater and commercials. After graduating early from high school, she enrolled in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was a student there when she was cast as an extra in The Fury, then in the miniseries THE AWAKENING LAND, the project where she was spotted by OLTL’s casting director, Mary Jo Slater. In 1978, Slater tapped Evans to play Tina, the fiery and flighty role that put her on the daytime map. “I was so young when I joined the show; I was just a kid,” Evans reminisced to Digest in 2012. “I literally grew up on the show, both personally and professionally. Not 30 that many actors get a chance to do that, to go through these different stages of their lives being on just one show.”
