Harry & Meghan - A VERY (un) ROYAL TOUR

With a formal welcome, military parade, government officials and plenty of excited locals to meet them, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s trip to Nigeria had all the hallmarks of a royal tour. But for the couple who “stepped back” from their official duties in 2020, this was, instead, a very public private trip, as they represented themselves and the Invictus Games instead of the King.

Arriving to much fanfare at the Lightway Academy school on May 10, Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, were greeted with banners reading “We Are Honoured To Have You”. After being treated to a cultural dance performance, they joined in before taking selfies with students.

“As I look around this room, I see myself in all of you,” Meghan told the school kids, having revealed in October 2022 that she’d discovered through a genealogy DNA test she was 43 per cent Nigerian.
