I'm ready TO FORGIVE

Drew Barrymore has been in the spotlight since her first job at 11 months old in a puppy food commercial. She won hearts worldwide as a scene-stealing 7-year-old in E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, and then made headlines as a pre-teen party girl before cleaning up her act and becoming a Hollywood power player.

Since the launch of The Drew Barrymore Show in 2020, the daytime talk show host has become best known for her huge heart and deeply empathetic interview style, so she shocked fans on June 6 when she took to Instagram and slammed tabloids who ran with headlines that she “Cannot Wait” for her mother, Jaid, to die. The media had twisted her words from a Vulture interview in which she discussed their complicated bond.

“To all you tabloids out there, you have been f--king with my life since I was 13 years old,” Barrymore fumed in an Instagram video. “I have never said that I wished my mother was dead. How dare you put those words in my mouth.

“I have been vulnerable and tried to figure out a very difficult, painful relationship while admitting it is difficult to do while a parent is alive, and that for those of us who have to figure that out in real time cannot wait – as in they cannot wait for the time, not that the parent is dead. Don’t twist my words around or ever say that I wish my mother was dead.”
