From the time he was first diagnosed with Parkinson's disease more than 30 years ago, Michael J. Fox has held on to a firm belief. "You can do anything. Anything," he told People on April 10. What Fox has done in that time has not only defied the odds, it's gone against his doctor's worst predictions and helped advance treatment of the degenerative neurological disease by raising billions through his foundation.

And as his friend Ryan Reynolds put it when Fox, 62, was named one of Time's 100 Most Influential People of 2024, he made millions of people including Reynolds' late father who also suffered from Parkinson's, "feel less alone". "He also falls a lot," wrote Reynolds. "Not just because he has Parkinson's. He falls a lot because he's unafraid to fly."
