JB GILL and JULES HUDSON on why Cannon Hall Farm is a wonderland at winter
CAREN CLARK.
The magic of the SEASON

So, do you enjoy the winter months?

JULES I love winter! I’m a season-watcher, so I like the changes. I’m lucky to live in the countryside and there’s nothing like a crisp blue sky on a winter’s day and enjoying longer nights and cosying up by fire.

JB I love everything about winter, too. Lots of my family have their birthdays in winter, including me, so it’s full of celebrations! And it’s the busiest time of year on my farm [in Kent] with our turkeys.

This is the third outing for Winter on the Farm. What can we expect this time?

JB With farming, you always have challenges, no matter the season, but farmers find a way to manage. This will be a great way for people to connect with that, help where they can, and understand issues that farmers are facing.

JULES People think winter is when things shut down. But in farming terms, it’s an important time preparing for spring. We’ll see that with our furry friends at Cannon Hall Farm, but we’ll also capture what the season means across the country and reflect on the conservation and other initiatives going on.

Which animals are we set to see at Cannon Hall Farm?

JULES We’ll be catching up with some who came into the world during Springtime on the Farm. One of my favourites is Biscuit the pygmy goat, and lovely donkey foals have been born as well as Shetland foals and a shire-horse foal, plus we’ll see the usual faces like Jon Bon Pony and Zander the alpaca.
