WOMEN WHO LEAD

Entrepreneurs, investors, and all-round power women, Somdutta Singh and Ankita Vashistha tell us why the future is female

In any aspect of life, it takes a different sort of strength and determination to stand your ground in the face of challenges. When you choose a path for yourself, you may encounter naysayers along the way, but what matters is the life you’ve envisioned for yourself and how hard you’re willing to try and get it. Somdutta Singh and Ankita Vashistha are two women who have won at life and business, but not without battling their own share of difficulties. They talk about championing women empowerment and leadership, how to keep a good head on your shoulders, and why it’s important to stay curious.
GRAZIA: What pushed you on the path of entrepreneurship and investing?
SOMDUTTA SINGH: My journey towards becoming an entrepreneur and investor was deeply influenced by my upbringing. Both my parents were accomplished doctors. While their careers provided stability, I couldn’t help but notice the demanding nature of their schedules. In contrast, my father’s friends in business and marketing seemed to enjoy more flexible and dynamic lives. That contrast made me realise that I wanted more than just stability – I craved freedom, flexibility, and the opportunity to chart my own path. This realisation became the foundation of my journey, driving me to break barriers and inspire aspiring women entrepreneurs in the ecosystem. I firmly believe that if I can do it, so can you. There always has to be that one pioneer — a torchbearer who lights the path forward, walking the road less travelled to show others the way. I aspired to be that guiding light, not just for my own ambitions but to empower others to step boldly into the world of entrepreneurship and redefine possibilities for themselves.
