It’s amazing to see more homes that look good while still being kind to our shared planet, but which are the best items to put on your wish list? Discover the energy-efficient appliances and accessories that will help your next kitchen or bathroom reno score high on sustainability.
SHOP WITH ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN MIND
With so many products out there, it may feel overwhelming to find those that are truly kind to the planet. Fortunately, clear guidelines exist that help you narrow down your options and find the best appliances for your home.
For most kitchen and bathroom appliances, the star rating is a good way to gauge how efficient a model is when compared to similar models. Plus, it’s so simple to understand — the more stars an appliance has, the more energy efficient it is.
In fact, while most products are given between one and six stars, energy-efficient technology has improved so much that you’ll find some appliances with a whole second row of stars. These appliances can have up to 10 stars, making them some of the most energy-efficient you can find. With those kinds of options on offer, it’s worth doing your reasearch to find the right product for your eco-needs.
You can also look at an appliance’s energy consumption to figure out how energy-efficient it is. The energy consumption number is based on standardised testing, which is conducted in line with the official Australian and New Zealand Standard. The lower the energy consumption number, the more energy efficient it is.
