Small Wonder
If you're planning a new kitchen but you're tight on space, take inspiration from this bijou kitchen in Notting Hill, west London, designed by deVOL. Cupboards from the Classic English range were handmade to fit the dimensions, while slim, open shelving and integrated appliances hidden behind solid painted doors help to create an uncomplicated space that feels larger than its 40 square feet.
Glamorous Arabescato marble and bold colours complete this elegant room that's big in personality but eminently practical, with an intimate, charming quality that would be difficult to pull off in a larger space. devolkitchens.co.uk
TILE INNOVATION
Tile producer Craven Dunnill Jackfield has launched an innovative new restoration service for original tiles. The process enables period property owners to accurately restore tiles without causing further damage to the fragile surfaces.
Tile restoration methods can often be invasive, necessitating the removal of parts of the wall or floor. The new system eradicates these risks, offering a 3D scan of ceramic artworks in situ, without the need to remove them. Via the scan, the shape and composition of the ceramic can be seen beneath the layers of glaze, enabling the experts at Craven Dunnill Jackfield to create a faithful reproduction. Harrods is one of the first places to showcase the capabilities of the new process; the finished result demonstrates the potential of this new technique and its blend of modern technology with traditional craftsmanship.
