OSCAR LEE, once a youth who had a passion for cheerleading, to having his own design label. The creation of OUTDWELL clothing is not only the result of hard work but also a result of overcoming the feeling of self-doubt and existential dread. He wants to set it as a precedent for those that are feeling lost, that no matter what state you might find yourself in, it is important to remind yourself that there are always chances to reignite the flame and go above and beyond to take what you want in life. From the brand logo, to his design language, Oscar Lee strives to tell a story of self-expression and the importance of making yourself the priority. OUTDWELL clothing is now on its second act and had just recently showcased the collection at Mercedes Benz Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week, with the design concept this time around targeting artist and giving an unconventional look that can be worn on the daily.
Who is Oscar Lee and What is OUTDWELL all about?
Back then, cheerleading was the only thing I had in mind at the time; I didn't have any goals nor any ideas about what I would like to be nor even what I wanted to achieve in the future. I was really passionate when it came to cheerleading, from the year 2015 up until 2019 it had been all that I ever invested myself in.
In 2017, I managed to compete in one of the largest cheerleading competitions in the USA; The International Cheer Union World Championships (ICU WORLDS) as a representative for Team Malaysia. After cheerleading ended. It finally came to a point where I had to decide what I would like to pursue for my tertiary education. A friend of mine introduced me to the fashion scene and straight away, I enrolled myself into a fashion school during 2018. I loved studying fashion as the thought of making and sewing my own clothes from scratch made me feel very proud as I was able to wear my own creation.
