IN 2008, sister LVMH brand TAG Heuer unveiled the Monaco v4. At the time, it was a revolutionary movement, echoing the Maison’s racing car ethos with a V4 movement that replaced the pinions of the traditional mechanical movement with a relay of five notched belts whose tension was controlled by two turnbuckles, and oscillating at 28,800 vibrations like its ancestors. That said, it was its unique winding system that also presented a never before-seen unique feature: a linear mass shaped as a tungsten ingot. After Jean Christophe Babin left the Maison and took the reigns at Bulgari, his replacement Jean-Claude Biver sidelined the project.
