RESURRECTING THE MALAYSIAN MOTORSPORTS DNA

Augustman Malaysia speaks to Nazim Azman about his recent achievements in the racing industry

MALAYSIA HAS HAD its moments in the global motorsports scene before. From hosting the Formula One races at the Sepang Circuit to having its very own professional driver, Alex Yoong in the sport. But over time, the hype for these expensive and adrenaline-filled races lessened, and only a niche community still celebrates its innovative heritage today.

One young driver that is Nazim Azman is about to change that by resurrecting the motorsports interest that’s rooted in our urban culture. Azman has been behind the wheel since the age of 10 and began his journey like many other popular drivers – go-karting. During his flourishing career, the 21-year-old eventually found himself receiving multiple opportunities including his latest offer to represent the Sime Darby Racing team in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2023.

Accompanying him in his new venture is the Porsche 992-generation 911 GT3 Cup automobile, coated in a vibrant red batik livery. Representing Porsche’s proud heritage in advanced automobile technology, the car will also act as the symbol of Malaysia’s rich culture through the batik designs.
