THROUGHOUT HISTORY, stars and other astronomical objects have been a symbol of wonder and the furthest reaches of human endeavour.

The Muonionalusta meteorite is among the oldest known gift from the universe to Earth, at over 4.5 billion years old. Classified as an iron meteorite with fine octahedrites, it was discovered in 1906 near the village of Kitkiöjärvi, Sweden, and studies have since dated its impact event to over a million years ago.

Named after the location near the Muonio river where it was discovered, the Muonionalusta meteorite has survived four ice ages since landing on our blue planet and had undergone aeons of cooling time before cyrstallising into intersecting lines of kamacite known as the Widmanstätten structure, the very pattern that gives the meteorite its remarkable beauty. Today, it has found a new home on the dials of the Omega Constellation and, subsequently, the wrists of mankind.
