Chopard harnesses the minimalist design of the sector dial to great effect

INTRODUCED IN THE ART DECO period and popularised into the mid-20th century, the sector dial is characterised by a concentric layout featuring distinct sections to indicate different units of time, putting the emphasis on clarity and legibility. In keeping with the minimalist aesthetic, the segmented composition is classically punctuated by a small-seconds subdial at 6 o’clock.

At Watches and Wonders 2024, Chopard hit our soft spot with the release of two refreshingly modern iterations of the enduring sector dial, namely the L.U.C Qualité Fleurier and L.U.C XPS Forest Green, both in Lucent Steel. Without further ado, let us delve into the novelties.

The latest addition to the L.U.C Qualité Fleurier collection captivates first and foremost with its elegant allure. Inspired by the very first L.U.C Qualité Fleurier watch in 2005, the masterpiece features curved lines that endow it with an undeniably elegant profile and optimal wearer comfort, and radiates a pervasive sense of nobility, with its elongated welded lugs following the pleasing proportions of the Lucent Steel case measuring 39mm in diameter and just 8.92mm slim.
