WORK AND PLAY ARE ONE AND THE SAME FOR THIS MUCH-LOVED BRITISH STAR

Some people are genuinely grateful for the career path they have chosen and Olivia Colman is one of them. The BAFTA Award-winning actress says her latest film, black comedy Wicked Little Letters, was a "beautiful experience" - and not just because it's based on an "amazing true story" about scandal-plagued neighbours in 1920s England.

Here, Olivia, 50, tells New Idea about the film and what her three kids think of her day job.

How would you describe your character?

She has two sides. Edith is a woman who's been repressed but she also has a wild side waiting to burst out. When that happens, she is rather out of control. She was a lot of fun to play.

How would you deal with someone writing nasty things about you?
