A hospital's neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is where the most vulnerable babies, often born prematurely, fight to survive. It's also where British nurse Lucy Letby killed seven newborns and attempted to kill six others in her care.
On August 21, Letby was sentenced to life in prison, following a 10-month trial at Manchester Crown Court that horrified the world.
She was found guilty of killing five baby boys and two baby girls at the Countess of Chester Hospital between 2015 and 2016. The jury heard how Letby poisoned some of her infant victims by injecting them with insulin, while others were injected with air or force-fed milk.
